Currently Craving from Furbish Studio

Monday, July 6, 2015

Hey guys. I wanted to share some of my favorite things from furbish studio right now. I narrowed it down to 10 and it was a task just doing that. I love just about all the products they carry - well some can be iffy, but my style has definitely turned more eclectic these days so I love when they mix modern, vintage, traditional...you name it all in one place.

A lot of these items are definitely splurges instead of savings and also not to mention not in my budget (*sigh*) but I love to go to their site and look for inspiration.

For instance, I ended up ordering some palm beach pillows from Etsy and paid $30 for 2 pillow covers as opposed to $85 for one. And that fringe garland is something I could definitely make... when I have the time. I think the garland would be so fab draped across a fun mirror or on the mantle to give it a little piazza. You can also find ginger jars for a steal via craigslist, antique stores, etc. Furbish Studio also has sales in the fall and on Black Friday that I always look for some savings.

Current Obsession | Antique Persian Rugs

Friday, June 19, 2015

There is just something to be said about antique rugs. They are timeless and effortlessly chic -- like bright pieces of art that can add a statement to any room. See some of my favorites below.

I love the bright red, pink and blue hues in this one.

I searched online for a while and decided to check out a local store in our downtown area. I wanted something for under our kitchen sink. We purchase a small 3x5 bright rug and absolutely love it. I like the "Heriz" rugs which have a lot of tribal and geometric patterns compared to floral.

I wanted my first rug to have pinks and red in it to be more fun! I love the one we picked out.

I know this is just the beginning of a wonderful relationship. My next one I will be saving up for is for our dining room. We have a light egg shell blue/greyish for our paint color so I'm thinking a bright vibrant one with classic white drapes from Ikea since there will clearly be a lot going on from the rug.

I also posted a good source for buying persian rugs online from: Shea at Studio McGee (Guys if you aren't following her blog yet, do it! You won't be sorry.

It is always nice when someone does the dirty work of researching for you. Thanks Studio McGee!

The Look for Less | Heron Wall Art

Thursday, April 30, 2015

I wanted to share some steals and deals because nothing makes me more excited than getting a good deal...I mean I can always justify a purchase if I'm saving money. My husband tends to disagree.

I have been swooning over this piece from Ballard Designs for like ever...Love it.

The price tag, not so much. The smallest one starts at $149 and goes up to $469.

So...one day I was randomly in Bed Bath and Beyond and came across this...

I decided not to buy it then because I did not want to buy anything on a whim. I am trying to do better on impulse buying and making sure I know exactly where I'm going to put something and to make sure I have the room for it - a constant struggle.

Anyways, my birthday was coming up and I mentioned it to my mom and turns out we found it online and could use a coupon code..HEY. We ended up getting it for under $80 with free shipping. Total score in my book.

Here's how it looks in my living room.

Loved how it turned out. I'm actually working on a project at this very moment - it is drying in the basement as I write this post. I'm redoing a table I brought over from my grandfathers and painting it a deep royal blue.  I will do an update once it is finished. Thanks for reading!

Chandy Makeover

Thursday, September 4, 2014

This post has been on the back burner for quite some time now. Matter of fact, I completed this small project over a year ago and I'm finally posting it. Whoopsie.

If you didn't already know, during our engagement we decided to demo and renovate just about everything in our current home. I lived in this house all throughout college with roommates. Right before Corey and I got married, we put it on the market and started searching but just could not find what we were looking for in our budget. Soooo we decided to completely gut the house and completely renovate. Now back to the project.

My old dining room is pictured below. Notice the brass chandelier?

Well, I really was not digging it. My uncle, who is an electrician, had a client that no longer wanted this chandelier (pictured below) so he decided to give it to us. I was ecstatic. I wanted something fancy and this fit the bill.

I was in love, but did not want to completely ditch the brass chandy either. I decided to switch lighting in my breakfast room and wanted to incorporate the brass chandelier in there.

Below is a picture of what I was working with pre-reno in our breakfast room.

I knew I wanted to spray paint the brass chandelier or either try out the Annie's chalk paint. I went back and forth but decided against the chalk paint. For one, I wanted instant gratification and did not want to have to wait for the Annie's chalk paint to come in since it would have to be ordered online and two spray paint is always less work. So, I checked out Lowe's and picked up some Krylon's oil rubbed bronzed spray paint.

I took the chandelier outside, hung it in a tree and away I went to spraying. It took a couple of coats to make sure I covered everything.

I then spotted some cute burlap chandelier shades from Kirkland's for only $5 each!

Here's the after.

I loved how it turned out and loved even more the cost. Here's a rough breakdown for the DIY.

Chandelier Lampshades: 5 shades at $5.00 each          $25.00
2 cans Krylon's oil rubbed bronzed spray paint            $12.00
Grand Total:                                                               $37.00

Hope you enjoyed this DIY post. Thanks for reading!

Fall Feeling

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Okay so yesterday was the turning point of a new season in my mind. I packed up my bathing suits, seersuckers, and whites and now I'm itching to pull out my fall clothes. I usually am always all about summer and the fact that I never want it to end, but for some reason this year is the exception. I'm so ready for cozy sweaters, leggings, knee high boots, and pumpkin EVERYTHING. Let's just say I have already had my fair share of PSL's (pumpkin spice lattes) even though we are still in 90 degree temps.

Here are some pieces I have currently been coveting for fall from Old Navy.

Please note the camo vest is under $30! I'm praying I can fit in the girl's xxl. Ha, but for real! It's a fraction of the cost from one almost identical at J. Crew Factory right now.

I also loved how these three outfits are styles on their Old Navy's website...

I think I might just have to copy the first outfit verbatim. LOVE. Now all we need is for these hot temps to die down.  We were in the 90's today so I still have a few more weeks until I can begin switching wardrobes out.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day. Thanks for stopping by.

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

How's everyone doing? Anyone else wake up early Monday morning for the Lilly Sale? Well, in my case, I did not have to wake up early but leave the gym early because I completely forgot about the sale. I ran home and got on my computer around 8:05 and was done by 8:15. I was very thrilled at the ease this year and glad I did not run into any issues like previous years. I was also very good this year and my wallet sincerely thanks me for it. I only ordered two things but I'm obsessed with them both! Here's what I scored:

I have been dying over this jumpsuit since it came out about 2+ years ago. I was going to buy it in both prints but I told myself I do not need….two jumpsuits.
I also ordered the Wilda Caftan. I think it will be perfect for some spring/summer weddings next year.

I cannot wait to wear both of these! I received tracking information yesterday that they will be here today - hooray! Well done Lilly, well done.

Vacation to Cancun

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

I'm trying to catch up on my blogging and wanted to share some pictures from our vacation earlier this summer to Mexico. We had the best time but now it's back to life...back to reality.  Did you catch your self singing this in your head like I am?

airplane view

We went during the World Cup so we obviously had to take a picture in front of the gigantic soccer ball.

We went to a show just about every night but I only managed to get one blurry picture.

One afternoon while the boys were watching soccer at the Sports Lounge, Hannah and I decided to sign up for a Sushi-making class. It was so much fun and so EASY. I have not attempted it again by myself yet simply because I need to find somewhere to buy the supplies and type of ingredients.

Its hard to tell but there was a conveyor belt in the middle of the table and as they would make sushi it was come down the table and you would grab what you wanted. It was pretty neat.

The next night was Casino night. Corey and Bailey sat the poker table all night while Hannah and I were with the life of the party at Black Jack. We were with some real characters and I have never laughed so hard. Hannah even won out the table and received an all day pass to the spa.

That's all the pictures for now - I need to find my other camera to upload more.

That was our summer vacay. Can't wait to start planning on where we go next year! Any suggestions?
