The Chair Hunt is Finally Over

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

I have been looking for the perfect chair for a corner in my living room for months now. I have searched online but never took the plunge because I wanted to actually sit in it and what if it was uncomfortable? I would hate to have to pay shipping to return something that large.

On our mini-vaca to Hilton Head, Corey and I were killing some time one afternoon and I suggested we check out HomeGoods. I always like to go to one since we only have a TJ & Marshall's near us. HomeGoods is by far my favorite since it is mainly home decor.

Anyways, we were walking down the aisle and my eyes lit up. I saw it, the perfect chair, and instantly my heart fluttered. Ha, but seriously, if anyone knows anything about me, they know I have a weakness for animal print. Check out this beauty...

The best part is that it is soooo comfortable! It is even "husband" approved.

Corey asked me where we were going to put it and I began to tell him my special corner I have been trying to fill for months, duh...and he stops me in my tracks.

He said how are we going to get it home...

I completely forgot we were in his truck and I would have been a nervous wreck with my new prized possession in the back of the truck down the interstate for 3 1/2 hours back home. Not an option.

Sooo...the journey began to get this chair in the backseat of his truck. At first I didn't see it happening, but we were able to take the feet off and it fit perfectly. I was able to breathe easy on the way home.

And it makes the absolute PERFECT addition to our home. I guess patiently waiting does pay off!

I absolutely L-O-V-E it! I know the tags are still on there.

I still have to find a small round table to go next to it...let the hunt begin.

Do you have a favorite piece of decor or furniture that you love in your house? If so, I'd love to hear about it!

The Lloyd's Do Hilton Head

To celebrate our one year wedding anniversary last week, Corey and I decided to drive down to Hilton Head to enjoy some R&R for a couple of days. It was MUCH needed to say the least. It was so nice to just sleep in if and not have a schedule. We did, however, do T25 every morning just to make sure we stayed on track and not completely ruin our routine. If you do not know what T25 is, I will be doing a post on it soon.

We spent the first day at the beach and then got ready to check out some shops and antique stores around Sea Pines. We were on the hunt for a club chair for our living room and heard a lot of good things about Hilton Head's furniture consignments that wouldn't break the bank.

Speaking of breaking the bank, can I just brag a second? I got this maxi-dress on clearance from Old Navy last summer for...(drum roll please) $5.94!!! I should have gotten Corey to do a full picture of the dress but should-a, could-a, would-a. Remember, we are new at this blogging/picture taking thing. ;)

The first night we made dinner reservations at Bonefish, my favorite, and we always go there while in Hilton Head. We were pretty hungry after our shopping so we ran across this restaurant called, The British Pub and Cafe. We thought we would sit down and enjoy a drink and a little appetizer since we had to wait on our reservation. Yes, we had a pre-meal before our actual meal. Ah, gotta love it. We're on vacation THOUGH!

Check out this baked brie topped with raspberry sauce and sliced almonds...it was delicious! This was Corey's first time eating brie and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

The next day was another beach day...for about 15 minutes. It was a sand storm. I could hardly open my eyes and those 15 minutes resulted in sand all over my body. Not cool. So we went to Giuseppi's for a slice of pizza and hung out by the pool all day. We got ready and did a little more shopping before dinner.

Top: Kohl's - Lauren Conrad
Shorts: Britt Ryan from my favorite boutique back home, Sugar
Shoes: Corey surprised me with these Tory Burch snakeskin millers.

I love them but they are definitely not as comfortable as my other pair. I think the gold logo dug into the top of my foot. I'm hoping I just need to break them in.

Here's a close up of my stack.

Notice I'm rocking my B&B bangle with my (2) "make-shift" ones I attempted. I still need a little work.

We ate at Truffles the next night and it was delicious as always. Like tradition, I got the mango BBQ salmon. Best salmon ever, I promise!

Corey got the chicken pot pie but said it was no where near as good as ours.

A little background on the chicken pot pie. Corey and I learned how to make it this past fall and it was a staple in our household and when I say staple, I mean we were having it just about twice a week. So, we love our chicken pot pie. I will have to post the recipe on here sometime.

Oh and did I mention I scored this pretty little thing at the Kate Spade outlet? It was an extra 50% off and Corey was feeling generous so why not? I'm obsessed. I cannot wait to carry it all summer.

Corey keeping up with his social media...

While I play around with my camera, trying to master the "sun-flare"...

Here's another outfit I wore during our trip and it has one my favorite things...butterflies, so you could see why I love this top. But no, it gets better. Check out the back.

Ah yes, you know what I love even more than butterflies...BOWS. Thank you Lilly, once again.

Here's a close up. I should have made the bow prettier but I got lazy.

These Sam Edelman's have been my go to shoe so far this season. The best part? I got them for FREE! Yup, you heard right. My MIL bought them from the shoe store next door to her shop and they ended up not fitting right after she got home and already threw the box away.

And you can't go on vacation without enjoying brunch...

One morning we ate at this quaint shop and restaurant called, Low Country Produce. They are known for their homemade yeast doughnuts which we of course had to try.

They were not exactly what we were expecting or used to but were still good. They reminded me of the doughnuts you would get at a chinese buffet. I know that does not do these doughnuts justice but hey, I call them like I see them, or in this case, taste them.

One Year Down...a Lifetime to Go

Monday, April 28, 2014

I still cannot believe Corey and I celebrated our one year anniversary yesterday. This year has flown by and it seems like just yesterday I was getting ready to walk down the aisle.

Of course we did all of the celebratory festivities...

We watched our wedding video and I'll have to admit, there were a few tears shed. We also enjoyed some of our wedding cake and toasted with some champagne.

Lacy and Tate even got in on the action...

Well that was our first anniversary and cheers to many more to come. I will post a recap of our mini-vaca we had last week in Hilton Head so stay tuned.

Put a Bow on It.

I am beyond excited about this adorable line of hair accessories that The Frilly Frog recently started carrying.
Gina Made It is a line of KNOTical Hair Accessories based in NYC, made in the South, and styled in LA.

The Bun Bows are made from luxurious fabrics including dupioni silk, crushed velvets, brocades, and matelassés. They are fabulous and will instantly upgrade the average "up-do". They are hand knotted in North Carolina and made with coordinating fold over elastic.

Gina Made It has been featured in People Style Watch, Redbook, US Weekly, Kentucky Bride, Coastal Living, and many others!

I cannot wait to run up to The Frilly Frog and get my hands on some of the Bun Bows. I will definitely be rocking them with my top knot this summer. Below are some pictures from the Gina Made It website.

They even make a great addition to any arm candy. I can't wait to stack some with my bangles.

I am also loving their headbands. I'm sure we will be carrying these in the store soon as well.

These are great chic accessories that will help save time on days my hair will just not cooperate and help tame my frizz. If you're on the go like me, these will be the perfect hair essential that you can rock all year around.

Weekend Whereabouts

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

I had to work at my "second job" as I call it this past weekend. My mother-in-law owns an adorable children's boutique located in Uptown Greenwood, SC. The Frilly Frog has been in business almost 5 years this summer. She opened up my first year at Lander and I worked there all throughout college. I loved it! After I graduated though, it was time to get a "Big Girl Job" and now I help at the store on weekends and special events. I love retail and hope that one day, I can go back to that. I also go to market in Atlanta where we order a lot of our lines for the store. This past weekend was the second apparel mart for Fall.

Anyways, back to my weekend. After my 8-5 job, I hightailed it out of there to jump in the car for Atlanta. Once we got there we were famished. We decided to walk across the street to one of our favorite places to eat in Buckhead, The Buckhead Diner. They have my second favorite calamari! My number one favorite is still Bonefish.

Lisa got their field salad and crab cakes while I devoured these delicious Shrimp and Grits...

Maybe it is just a 'southern thing' but 9 times out of 10, if shrimp and grits is on the menu, you best believe I'm getting it.

The next day it was off to do one of my favorite things...SHOP!

Don't you love the classic hotel mirror picture? I decided to wear some of my favorite J. Crew matchstick jeans with a sheer white Lauren Conrad top I snagged at Kohl's a few weeks ago.

We found some of the cutest things...Here are some sneak peeks of what will be the store this July and Fall.

This white lace top will be perfect with some bright neon skinnies.

This top is probably my favorite! I love the detail and I'm a sucker for anything peplum. Add some tribal detail and this top is a winner!

This next dress is by one of our top selling lines we carry for our tweens and teens (sizes 7-16) I want one in my size! I'm secretly hoping the size 16 runs very large so I can snag it when it comes in. I love anything stripes and the bonus? Jewel beaded neckline!

That night we met up with a friend from another children's boutique in GA and went to Rays. It was my first time and it was DELICIOUS! We started out with this amazing blue cheese crumbled chips. They were to die for..

I could have ate all of this on my own but luckily, I didn't.

Sunday we finished up ordering a few more lines and decided to come home. My hubby informed me over the weekend that when he picked up our pups from the groomers, they thought Tate had ear mites. I ,of course, freaking out tell Corey to quarantine our bedding since both puppies sleep with us. It turns out though, it was just a really bad ear infection and the vet could not find any ear mites. Praise the Lord! I was already itching thinking about it.

The vet gave us some ear drops and he is doing much better now.

Well, that was my weekend! Thanks for following along and I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead!
